China Food Industry Development Forum held

On July 27, the China Food Industry Development Forum jointly organized by the Food Industry Productivity Promotion Center and the China Food and Drug Industry Development and Supervision Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was held in Dalian. At the forum, relevant government officials, relevant experts, and business people discussed the development of the food industry in China and food safety issues.

Sun Xianze, Director of the Food Safety Coordination Department of the State Food and Drug Administration, briefly introduced the work of the State Food and Drug Administration in recent years in the areas of food safety special rectification, food relief projects, and food safety information analysis. He said that in recent years, through the special rectification of food safety conducted by various departments and regions, it has effectively cracked down on the production and sale of counterfeit foods, and the market order has improved.

Zhang Jinjing, deputy director of the Department of Food Safety Coordination, made a speech entitled “Establish Scientific Supervision Concept to Protect Food Safety” at the forum. He said that at present, China's food safety is also facing some problems and challenges, such as the source of pollution problems, illegal production and management issues, abuse of identification issues and so on. To solve these problems, we must establish a scientific concept of supervision. This is both the need to safeguard public health and the need to maintain a fair and orderly market. He said that scientific supervision must be based on food risk analysis and that it must understand the Codex Alimentarius and international food safety actions.

Leaders and experts from the China Light Industry Council, the Beijing Food Safety Supervision and Coordination Office, and the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics Business School also delivered speeches at the forum.

During the forum, two special seminars were held on "China's Dairy Industry Healthy Development" and "Packaging and Food Safety."
