IHS: Japanese cars will cut output by 340,000 units after two weeks of earthquake

A report released by IHS Automotive Insight, a global market research agency, predicts that Japan’s auto production will be reduced by 338,000 vehicles (March 11 to March 24) in two weeks.

In addition, the earthquake in Japan has had a huge impact on the auto parts supply chain, which has also affected the global car production. At present (as of March 21st), the number of cars outside Japan has already been reduced by about 10,000 cars, but the data will be doubled, because there will be more and more car factories and parts manufacturers' production. The activity was hampered by the shortage of parts.

The performance of the second-largest global car company, General Motors, after relaying Toyota is particularly evident. At present, the company has three factories in the world because of zero The production was halted due to the shortage of components. The discontinued plants were located in the United States, Germany, and Spain. In addition, the production of GM Korea plants will also slow down for the same reason.

Among them, Toyota accounted for 44% of Japanese auto production, followed by Nissan, which accounted for 12% of total production.
