**How to Choose a ZHME Winch for Your Vehicle:**
Not sure which winch is right for you? The best way is to calculate the required line pull based on your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Multiply it by 1.5 to get an approximate rating for the winch. Typically, the first layer of rope on the drum holds the maximum load. Each additional layer reduces the pulling power by about 10%. For example, a winch rated at 9,500lbs would pull 8,550lbs on the second layer and 7,700lbs on the third. Uneven spooling can also affect performance, so make sure to re-spool the winch before each use.
