Jilin builds a new structure of the industry


The grand blueprint for the development of Jilin Province, one of the old industrial bases in northeast China, has been established: The overall goal of the plan is to build a car, petrochemical, agricultural product processing, modern Chinese medicine and biology with high-tech industries from now to 2010 or a little longer. Jilin Province will build an automotive industry base that ranks first among the top five industries, mainly focusing on "FAW". The proposed goal is to “rely on FAW, support FAW, and serve FAW”, accelerate the development of the auto industry, increase the scale of the entire vehicle, enhance the capacity of supporting parts and components, promote auto trading and services, and form an auto industry base with international competitiveness.

The automobile industry is a pillar industry in Jilin Province. Last year, FAW achieved sales of 900,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 33.21%. Its output value, sales and profits accounted for about half of the total industrial output of Jilin Province. In accordance with its strategic goal of “mega-scale, digital management, and international operation”, a total vehicle investment of RMB 17 billion will be carried out for the expansion of complete vehicles, construction of 660,000 cars for FAW-Volkswagen, 100,000 cars for FAW Group and 100,000 Three bases for trucks. The automobile will drive the development of parts and related industries in the province and form seven supporting systems such as automotive electronics, engine accessories, chassis, steering and transmission, and the supporting ratio will reach 50%.
