China National Petroleum Corporation's 2007 Technology Innovation Awards were announced recently. The “Development and First Application of High-pressure Hydrogenation Catalysts for Paraffin Wax and Microcrystalline Wax†project developed by Daqing Chemical Research Center won the first prize for the Group Corporation's Technology Innovation Award.
Starting from the development of catalytic materials, the project has overcome the technical difficulties in the research and development of wax hydrogenation catalysts and ensured the long-term operation of catalysts and plants. The SD-1 catalyst was successfully applied to the 200,000-ton high-pressure wax hydrogenation unit of Fushun Petrochemical Company. The results show that the process runs smoothly, the product quality is stable, and the product's light stability, colorimetric, thermal stability, odor and other indicators are better than the protocol requirements, and meet the foreign requirements for food grade paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax. China's paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax products have reached a new level of quality. Each year, Fushun Petrochemical Company can achieve an effective profit of RMB 16.203 million.
