Iveco repositions SAIC to plan commercial vehicle market

Recently, SAIC Group and Iveco, an international commercial vehicle manufacturer, jointly announced that the cooperation between the two companies has been fully upgraded and will increase investment in SAIC Iveco Hongyan and Nanjing Iveco's two commercial vehicle bases.

Xiao Guopu, vice president of Shanghai Automotive, gave Nanjing Iveco a new position: "Nanjing Iveco Motors Co., Ltd. will become a new starting point for cooperation between SAIC and Iveco in the field of light commercial vehicles."

In fact, SAIC maintained its cooperation with Iveco prior to cooperation with South Korea. As early as 2006, SAIC and Iveco established a joint venture SAIC Iveco Commercial Vehicle Investment Co., Ltd.; after that, they also signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with Chongqing Heavy Duty Truck to reorganize Chongqing Hongyan Automobile; last year, SAIC Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Company and SAIC Motor Fiat Red Rock Engine Company was established at the same time, which allowed SAIC and Iveco to jointly produce 40,000 heavy vehicles and 100,000 engines in Chongqing.

After the cooperation with South Africa, with the Nanjing Iveco platform, SAIC and Iveco's cooperation extended to the field of light commercial vehicles, thus achieving the full cooperation of the two sides from the engine to the light medium and heavy trucks to light passengers. For Nanjing Iveco, the Italian shareholders have maintained advanced technological advantages and advantages in overseas channels, while the Chinese new shareholders have strong financial strength and experience in domestic market operations.

On the day when the two sides announced the cooperation and upgrade, the first model of cooperation between the two parties, Baodi, also debuted in the same period. It is not only Iveco that entered the new era, but also SAIC. In the commercial vehicle plan announced by SAIC, this year's sales target is set at 700,000 units, and it is clearly stated that Nanjing Iveco and GM Wuling are the main forces to seize the market. According to statistics, in China's light truck market, the share of Iveco's leap is less than 10%, and the room for improvement is very large. For this reason, SAIC Motor will increase its sales target for this year to 65,000 vehicles. If the target is successfully completed, the increase will exceed 30%.

The relevant person stated that SAIC should enter the first group in the field of commercial vehicles, and the sales volume and scale are the most convincing. Nanjing Iveco undertakes, on the one hand, to fill the gaps in SAIC's high-end light passenger market and continue to maintain the strong influence of Iveco; on the other hand, it promotes the overall sales of Yuejin in the domestic mainstream light truck market, and further commercialization of SAIC Motor. The overall scale of the car will increase.

It is understood that Iveco is currently working with Nanjing Iveco to develop a new leap forward product and plans to launch it around 2010. This year, Iveco's overseas channel construction and sharing for Yuejin will be fully completed. These will increase the market share of Leap Forward and also ensure the realization of SAIC's commercial vehicle plan.
