On February 28, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at Anhui Tongfeng Shengda Chemical Co., Ltd., a new joint venture of LANXESS in China. This was the first foreign-owned enterprise to produce rubber antioxidants in China. It is expected to be completed before the end of 2006. Put into production of rubber anti-aging agent 6-PPD, the product will be fully supplied to the Chinese market.
It is understood that the rubber anti-aging agent 6-PPD produced by the joint venture is also currently manufactured by LANXESS in Europe, India and the United States. LANXESS has agreed to gradually transfer its experience in technology and production processes to new joint ventures. LANXESS Corporation stated that they have established an important production base by imparting technology and production experience to China and fostering local production capabilities to serve Chinese customers with greater flexibility and reliability. China's rubber industry has enormous potential for development. LANXESS will gradually stabilize its position in the Chinese market and grow with China's rubber industry.
