Recently, the “Active Flux Development Technology†Zhiyan Project undertaken by Shanghai Ship Technology Research Institute won the Outstanding Project Award for Equipment Scientific Research and Technology Award issued by the General Planning Department of the General Armament Department.
The “Active Flux Development Technology†is a new active flux introduced by the Ship Process Institute and the British Welding Technology Institute (TWI). The flux is free of halides and fluorides, and is environmentally friendly; it can effectively increase the penetration depth and reduce the melting width during welding. For stainless steel with a thickness of less than 8 mm, it can achieve one-time penetration without opening, which reduces welding deformation. The use of the active flux process can greatly reduce the processing time of the groove, the assembly time of the pipe and the welding time, the welding material and the energy consumption are also correspondingly reduced, the production efficiency is greatly improved, the economic benefit is remarkable, and the application prospect is widely applied. The welds using the active flux are well formed, and the performance indexes are in line with the requirements of the Chinese Society for Classification and Materials. At present, the product is being tested in the fields of boiler, chemical machinery, food machinery and shipbuilding industry, and the preliminary reaction effect is good. The Institute is further increasing the promotion and application of the active flux.
