Development of Trailer-mounted Pumps and Their Application

The original pump group of the Zhongyuan Petroleum Exploration Bureau Machinery Manufacturing Plant was powered by a PZ12V190B diesel engine, which transmitted power through a universal shaft and linkage unit to drive the 3NB21300 drilling pump via a belt. However, this system suffered from a bulky structure, transportation challenges, and poor diesel engine performance, making it unsuitable for the demanding requirements of drilling and workover operations. Additionally, the reliability of the diesel engines was low, and the linkage system often led to frequent breakdowns, causing significant losses for users. In response to the growing drilling needs in the Central Plains Oilfield in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, a new TJBZ01 trailing pump group was developed based on the original design. This new model offers superior performance, a more rational structure, and improved transmission efficiency. It is well-suited for complex environments and significantly improves upon the shortcomings of the previous unit, such as its complicated structure and limited practicality. First, the structural features and main technical parameters: The TJBZ01 trailing pump group uses a Cat 3412E EFI diesel engine instead of the domestic PZ12V190B. The engine is compact, lightweight, energy-efficient, and has excellent cold-start performance, meeting the demands of F2800 or F21300 mud pumps under various conditions. The hydraulic transmission system, BY801D, replaces the original reducer and linkage. It features a single-phase radial three-phase lock torque converter, planetary gear mechanical transmission, and an automatic load-sensitive control system that can switch between torque and lock modes. This configuration not only reduces the overall size but also enhances speed control, allowing it to meet different drilling fluid displacement and pressure requirements. The hydraulic transmission offers eight-speed gears. The mud pump used is either the F2800 or F21300 model, known for its light weight, advanced design, uniform flow, and ease of maintenance. A V251.5 universal coupling connects the hydraulic torque converter output to the mud pump input shaft, replacing the traditional V-belt drive. This shortens the transmission distance, increases efficiency, and extends service life. The pump group is mounted on a 30-ton high and low semi-trailer chassis with a 450mm welded steel frame and a ZS12B double-bridge structure. It uses 11.00×220 Yellow tires and dual-chamber brakes. To enhance stability, six 28-ton Fuwa bearing legs are symmetrically arranged, allowing the unit to remain off the ground during long-term operation. A Mercedes-Benz tractor with a 50# traction pin at the front enables long-distance travel, and a take-back device ensures safe transport. Second, the main technical parameters include: a 30-ton high double bridge semi-trailer chassis, a Mercedes-Benz front tractor with a 50# traction pin, a wheelbase of 1300mm, a turning radius of 2200mm, a Cat 3412E diesel engine, a BY801D hydraulic transmission, an F2800 or F21300 mud pump, and a V251.5 universal coupling. The dimensions are 11700mm × 3000mm × 1400mm. Third, the power transmission process involves the diesel engine's power being transferred through the hydraulic transmission, then to the universal coupling, and finally to the drilling pump. During this process, rotational motion is converted into reciprocating motion, and mechanical energy is transformed into hydraulic energy. The power path is: diesel engine → hydraulic transmission (variable speed and torque) → universal coupling → drilling pump. Fourth, the application of the TJBZ01 pump group began in 1999 when the first unit was used by Saudi Aramco’s “China 2” drilling crew. Since then, eight units have been deployed in the DuRi and Minas fields in Indonesia. Users report that the TJBZ01 pumps operate smoothly, are reliable, and easy to use. They reduce labor intensity, improve working conditions, and meet the mud parameter requirements of drilling and workover processes effectively. Their excellent transportability makes them highly favored by drilling crews. Fifth, the conclusion highlights several key advantages: superior performance and high reliability, with fewer wearing parts and the ability to function in complex environments. The structure is compact, lightweight, and well-designed, with the diesel engine, transmission, coupling, and mud pump all neatly integrated onto the chassis. Installation and maintenance are simple, cost-effective, and require no complicated foundation. The unit is easy to install, stable, and long-lasting, with convenient repair access. Lastly, the trailer-mounted design ensures excellent transportability and mobility.
