In June 2005, the LJL52-10 well showed significant production changes. It produced 10 tons of oil, with 2.1 tons from Nissan and 0.5 tons from Nissin, while water cut reached 76.4%. Then, on September 7, the same well saw a dramatic improvement, producing 6.2 tons of oil and 4.5 tons of Nissin, with a water cut of only 26% and a liquid volume of 1215 cubic meters. This major change was attributed to the introduction of rod pump efficient lifting technology. At the time, the Bennian Oil Production Plant had many low-yield wells, with machine-mining efficiency below 10%, which made traditional methods inefficient.
Currently, most oil production plants use tubular pumps for extraction. However, the depth at which these pumps operate is limited, typically ranging between 1400 to 1800 meters. For deeper wells, the tubular pump system struggles to perform effectively. In July 2005, the oil extraction plant introduced the rod pump efficient lifting supporting technology. This new approach used small-diameter oil pumps for continuous lifting, allowing deeper pumping—up to 2200 to 2300 meters. The technology was first tested in well LJL52-10 and was put into full production on August 7, showing excellent results. A second test is now underway in well LJL52-12, with promising early outcomes.
This advancement has significantly improved oil recovery rates and helped revitalize previously underperforming wells. By enabling deeper and more efficient pumping, the rod pump technology is proving to be a game-changer for the plant’s operations. As more wells are evaluated and tested, it's expected that this method will become a standard practice, boosting overall productivity and reducing operational costs. The success of this technology also highlights the importance of innovation in the oil industry, especially in challenging environments where traditional methods fall short.
