Here are a few additional notes based on the image: - When the station was originally built, a neon "FIRE DEPARTMENT" sign was installed above the overhead door. Later, this was replaced with red letters reading "PROSPECT HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT." The photo shows the newer signage, which indicates it’s from a later period. Also, the paint store to the left of the station is visible, and this location was occupied until the new Walgreens opened. I have other photos showing the same red PHFD lettering with a different business in that spot. Additionally, when the station was first constructed, there was no curb between the road and the apron—just a gravel transition. - Below you can find details about three pieces of equipment used by the department at the time.I’ve confirmed that this photo was taken in 1963.
