Yangmei Coal Group's 1 million-ton/year (first-phase 400,000-ton/year) project has been building for a year and a half. It succeeded in igniting on May 29, and after 10 days of continuous operation and commissioning, it was formally put into production on June 8. It marks the first successful major project to accelerate the elimination of backward production capacity in the calcium carbide industry in Shanxi Province.
This project is the first large-scale chemical project put into operation by Yangmei Group in 2012. It adopts 6 sets of 10,000-volt safety-enclosed calcium carbide furnaces with the largest capacity in China, and is equipped with dry-type dedusting systems, gas-fired lime kilns and computer PLC systems. Control management system and other domestic advanced production technology. After the 1 million tons/year calcium carbide project is put into operation, it can achieve low energy consumption, low pollution and high clean production; it can save more than 260 million kilowatt hours of electricity consumption, reduce dust emissions by 70,000 tons, and save more than 160,000 tons of standard coal.

The project is designed by Shanghai Baosteel Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. The total investment is about 890 million yuan. According to the adjustment and revitalization plan for the coal chemical industry in Shanxi Province, Yangmei Coal Group's 1 million tons/year calcium carbide project has been used as a start-up project for the re-layout of the calcium carbide industry. The project is constructed in strict accordance with the concept of developing a recycling economy, based on the supplement of Qiyang Coal Group's acetylene chemical industry chain, to improve product market competitiveness.
