From glory to greater glory --- dedicated to the 56th anniversary of New China

As the songs of celebration echo and flowers bloom like an ocean, we welcome the 56th anniversary of the founding of New China during this golden autumn. In this season of harvest and joy, people from all ethnic groups across the country gather on the Great Wall and beyond, singing and laughing together, celebrating the prosperity of their motherland with flowers and wine. Among them are the five million children of the oil and chemical industry, who have achieved remarkable success in the final stage of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" development. Their accomplishments serve as a grand gift to the nation's birthday. Over the past 56 years, especially since the launch of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan," the Chinese oil and chemical industry has continuously advanced alongside the Republic’s progress and the national trend toward building a harmonious society. Cadres and workers in the sector have seized every opportunity, actively exploring sustainable development paths. This forward momentum has led to rapid growth and impressive achievements that reflect the industry’s strength and resilience. This year marks not only the 56th anniversary of the Republic but also the final year of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan." After five years of hard work, the petroleum and chemical industry has reached new heights. Currently, it accounts for over 18% of China’s total GDP, making it one of the largest industries and a key pillar of the national economy. By the end of last year, the industry had seen significant growth: industrial output value rose by 78%, sales revenue increased by 80.5%, total profit jumped by 131%, taxes grew by 68%, and import and export trade surged by 246%. In the first half of this year, the industry maintained its momentum, with a 35.8% increase in total output and a 30% rise in profits and taxes. The industry has also undergone major structural improvements, including product, technology, investment, organizational, and trade adjustments. These changes have enhanced overall performance, improved product profitability, and boosted capital operations. The industry’s competitiveness has grown significantly, driven by the rising demand from the national economy. Many products now rank among the top globally—chemical fertilizers, synthetic ammonia, soda ash, sulfuric acid, dyes, phosphate rock, synthetic fibers, and rubber shoes lead the world, while pesticides, caustic soda, and tires hold second place. Crude oil processing, ethylene, and coatings rank third. Numerous products, such as soda ash, lubricants, fertilizers, tires, caustic soda, architectural coatings, resins, amino compounds, rubber V-belts, and films, have earned the title of "China Famous Brand," placing them at the forefront of the national industrial landscape. On this special occasion, we look back with pride on the glorious achievements we have made. We reflect on the journey we have taken and feel deep sincerity and honor. This is a time of immense pride and celebration. As we approach the end of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan," we are stepping into a new era—the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan." This is a crucial period for the development of China’s oil and chemical industry. Having successfully navigated the three-year transition after joining the WTO, we now enter the post-WTO phase, where protection measures will gradually be lifted, and the domestic market will expand further. Domestic companies will face fierce global competition and encounter more challenges. However, we are supported by a stronger nation and a more stable industry platform. As long as we uphold the scientific concept of development and focus on people-centered, harmonious growth, continue to push for structural adjustments, abandon outdated, energy-intensive, and polluting models, and build a fair and orderly market system, we can achieve even greater success in the next development cycle. We will contribute more to the prosperity of the people and the strength of the nation. The future of our motherland is bright, and the oil and chemical industry will shine even brighter tomorrow.
