On August 26, Manzhouli Customs released statistics: From January to July 2014, the import of auto parts and components at Manzhouli Port was 3.07 billion yuan, an increase of about 46% over the same period of last year. The EU is the largest source of imports.
As the largest land port in China, Manzhouli is the most convenient, economical and most important land and sea transport channel to the CIS countries such as Europe and Russia.
Data show that from January to July, Manzhouli Port imported 3.069 billion yuan of auto parts and components from the EU, a year-on-year increase of 46.1%, accounting for 99.9% of the total value of imported auto parts and accessories in the same period. Among them, imports from Germany were 2.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%.
Tian Hao, an analyst at the Manchuria Customs General Statistics Department, analyzed the reasons for the sharp increase in the import volume of auto parts. He pointed out that the production and assembly of auto companies in China have not yet been fully realized in localization, and key spare parts such as engines and gearboxes still rely heavily on foreign imports. According to statistics from the China Automobile Industry Association, in the first half of the year, China's automobile production and sales were 11.773 million and 11.684 million, respectively, up 9.6% and 8.4% year-on-year, driving the continuous increase in import demand for auto parts.
