The first domestically produced wind power control system in China was born in Chongqing

Recently, Chongqing Qianwei Instrument Factory, under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), successfully launched the country's first domestically developed 850 kW wind power control system. This milestone marks a significant breakthrough in the city's renewable energy sector and signals that Chongqing is now fully equipped to support the entire wind power industry chain. The wind power control system, often referred to as the "brain" of wind turbines, serves as the command center and core control unit for the entire wind power generation process. It consists of several critical components, including the base cabinet, cabin cabinet, rectifier cabinet, and pitch control cabinet. These elements require high technical expertise, involve complex parameters, and demand precise assembly and testing, making the system a highly sophisticated engineering achievement. This project is part of a major industrial initiative between the Chongqing municipal government and CSIC, initiated under a strategic cooperation framework signed back in 2006. As one of the top ten key projects in the city this year, it is expected to drive the growth of local supporting industries over the next three to five years. In the long term, Chongqing aims to become a leading national center for wind power equipment research, development, and manufacturing, with the goal of positioning itself among the top three wind power hubs in China. In addition to the 850 kW system, Chongqing Qianwei Instrument Factory has already begun preliminary work on the assembly of the country's first 2MW wind power control system, which will also be developed with full independent intellectual property rights. This further reinforces the city's growing influence in the clean energy sector and its commitment to technological innovation and self-reliance.
