Here are some early images from 4773 Trenton Court, located in the Royal Melbourne subdivision of Long Grove. Part of this development falls within the Long Grove Fire Protection District, while the remaining area is under the Countryside Fire Protection District.
The incident occurred before 11 PM on Friday when firefighters were called to a reported fire. According to initial reports, the homeowner had just stepped outside the house minutes before a massive explosion destroyed the structure, sending splintered debris flying in all directions. Several nearby homes sustained damage, including broken windows, buckled garage doors, and structural issues.
More details are expected throughout the day as investigators continue to assess the scene and determine the cause of the explosion.
