Lake Zurich 2nd alarm fire

The Lake Zurich Fire Department was called to a structure fire around 1:00 AM this morning at 1025 Old McHenry Road. The location is just about 100 yards from their #3 fire station, located at 1075 Old McHenry Road. Upon arrival, the first responding unit discovered heavy flames on the east side of the two-story home. Due to the intensity of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm to bring in more personnel. Later, the incident was escalated to a second alarm as additional resources were needed for the extensive overhaul of the aging house, which had undergone multiple renovations over the years. One challenge faced by firefighters was securing a reliable water supply. The first hydrant used by the engine failed, causing a slight delay in getting water to the scene. Despite this setback, crews worked quickly to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. A series of photos captured the intense smoke coming from the second floor of the home, showing the severity of the fire. Another image highlights firefighters from Palatine Quint 81 working on the roof to tackle the fire in areas that couldn’t be reached from the ground. These efforts were crucial in bringing the fire under control. You can view a gallery of images from the scene [here](#).
