Diesel common rail technology has great prospects in China

Bosch China President, Zikokov, praised the success of modern common-rail diesel technology during the mass production announcement of Great Wall Motor’s INTEC electronically controlled high-pressure common rail diesel engine. He stated, “The advantages of common-rail technology have made modern diesel technology very successful in recent years. I believe these benefits will soon be experienced by Chinese consumers. Congratulations to Great Wall Motor for becoming the first manufacturer in China to promote and adopt this advanced technology.” Engine technology has always been a key battleground in the automotive industry, as it significantly influences the quality, performance, and competitiveness of vehicles. A company's ability to develop its own engines is not only a reflection of its R&D strength but also a critical factor in determining its influence within the global auto industry. In recent years, with rising oil prices and growing environmental concerns, the automotive sector has increasingly turned toward more efficient power solutions — and diesel has emerged as a strong contender. At the end of this month, Great Wall Motor partnered with Bosch, a global leader in diesel technology, to develop high-pressure common-rail diesel engines that are among the most advanced in the world. Currently, only a handful of countries possess this technology. Alongside Great Wall Motor, brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Huatai have introduced second-generation common-rail systems. The Great Wall "Smart Fuel Economy King" marks a significant breakthrough in China’s own diesel engine development. Zikokov addressed questions from reporters about the future of diesel technology. He emphasized that vehicle numbers in China are expected to double by 2014, reaching 11 million units. This growth will position China as one of the top vehicle producers globally, surpassing Germany and Japan. As car ownership increases, so will fuel demand. In 2005, China imported 126 million tons of oil, and by 2020, that number is projected to rise to 230 million tons. With automobiles consuming nearly 30% of China’s total crude oil demand today, this share is expected to reach 60% by 2020. Therefore, energy-efficient technologies like common-rail diesel play a vital role in reducing oil dependence and improving environmental sustainability. According to Zikokov, diesel vehicles equipped with common-rail technology can save up to 30% in fuel consumption compared to gasoline engines of the same class. This not only helps conserve natural resources but also offers substantial cost savings for consumers, especially for SUVs and pickup trucks. These advantages align well with China’s long-term sustainable development goals. Additionally, he highlighted that China, as a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, is committed to reducing CO2 emissions. Common-rail technology can cut CO2 emissions by 25–30% compared to gasoline engines. Vehicles equipped with Bosch’s system offer enhanced performance, including low-speed torque, improved acceleration, and better traction, along with quieter operation, making driving safer and more comfortable. Bosch has been actively expanding its presence in China. It has already produced 25 million common-rail systems and established a technology center in Wuxi, Jiangsu. Localized production is now in place, ensuring efficient support for new technologies in the Chinese market. In promoting modern diesel technology, Great Wall Motor became the first Chinese automaker to collaborate with Bosch on this cutting-edge system. Zikokov expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “I am deeply grateful to Great Wall and the Bosch project team for their outstanding collaboration. Their achievements have allowed us to celebrate this milestone today. Great Wall Motor is not only leading in the adoption of common-rail technology but is also paving the way for a sustainable and clean future.”

Double Column Machining Centers

Double column machining center also called dual column machining center. Double column machining center is a type of machining center with two independent columns. This structure consists of two columns and a crossbeam, forming a stable portal structure that enhances the overall rigidity and stability of the machine tool. The design of the dual column machining center enables the machine tool to adjust the position of the columns according to the machining requirements of the workpiece, thereby expanding the machining range and improving machining flexibility. This type of machining center is widely used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, mold processing, and other fields, especially when processing large and complex shaped workpieces. There is a crossbeam in the middle of the double columns, and the overall structure is a large machining center machine with a portal frame composed of double columns and top beams, suitable for processing large parts
