On May 14, Suihua's 200,000-ton-per-year methanol project was successfully commissioned. Just a week later, on May 20, the company secured a major win by winning the bid for the second phase of the 400,000-ton-per-year methanol project in Shenmu, which involved a total investment of 170 million yuan. Remarkably, this achievement was accomplished within just three years of the initial project launch. The Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. has taken on multiple large-scale methanol plant projects, with several ongoing and more in negotiation. Since 2003, the company has contracted five major methanol plants, three of which are currently under construction, while seven other contracts have been signed or are being discussed.
In 2003, the company made a significant breakthrough by winning the bid for the third-phase 400,000-ton methanol project at Shaanxi Yulin Natural Gas Chemical Plant. This project set six national records, including the lowest construction cost, fastest construction speed, and first-time success. This milestone marked the beginning of Shaanxi Construction’s specialization in methanol plant development. Within just three years, the company secured 17 large-scale methanol projects of 200,000 tons or more, and the volume of methanol-related construction quickly rose to over 20% of the company’s total revenue. As a result, the company earned the nickname “the professional household of methanol plant construction,†and its leadership began to establish itself as a key player in the industry.
According to Chairman Chen Huazhong, over the past three years, the company has heavily invested in the professionalization of methanol plant construction. It has developed unique strengths in technical expertise, equipment planning, and construction methods. A dedicated team was formed to handle process technology, on-site construction, and plant commissioning. To further enhance its capabilities, the company conducts intensive training for technicians and workers each year, lasting between one to three months. Over 50 technical experts and managers have been sent to universities for advanced studies. Additionally, the company has consistently increased its investment in equipment upgrades for methanol projects. Since 2003, annual investments in equipment have ranged from 10 to 15 million yuan. In 2005 alone, the company spent 36.23 million yuan to purchase nearly 100 pieces of large-scale construction machinery, reinforcing its leading position in methanol equipment and safety standards.
