Weichai Power: Serve the Heart and See the Truth

Since January 12th, southern China has experienced the most severe cold snap and snowstorm in decades due to a strong cold air mass. The extreme weather led to widespread disruptions, including the closure of the Beijing-Guangzhou railway line, expressways, and airport runways, as well as power outages and collapsed transmission lines. This storm, described as the worst in 50 years, significantly impacted daily life and economic activities. Faced with such natural challenges, Weichai service teams remained committed to supporting their customers. Despite the harsh conditions, they provided 24/7 assistance, demonstrating exceptional dedication and professionalism. Their efforts earned widespread appreciation from users, who shared heartwarming stories of Weichai’s reliable support during the crisis. Hunan province was one of the hardest-hit regions, with continuous snow, rain, and freezing temperatures lasting over 13 days. Several cities, including Changsha, Zhangjiajie, and Changde, faced severe snow disasters, causing transportation systems to nearly shut down. In Changsha, large-scale power outages persisted, making it even more challenging for businesses and residents. Before the disaster struck, the Weichai Changsha Service Center quickly adapted. When their office lost power, they switched to backup generators to ensure uninterrupted communication and service. This proactive approach allowed them to continue assisting customers efficiently. On January 30th, at 7 PM, Director Wang Haiyang received an urgent call from Long Sharon, a bus company operating Neoplan vehicles equipped with Weichai engines. One of their buses broke down on the Changsha West Expressway after a long journey through heavy snow. The driver had traveled for three days and nights, facing treacherous conditions that eventually caused the vehicle to stop. Wang and his team immediately set out to the site. The road was covered in thick snow, and visibility was extremely low. It took them 10 hours to cover a distance that should have taken only two. Upon arrival, they encountered difficult conditions—cold temperatures, limited lighting, and a complex engine system. However, they worked tirelessly, using technical expertise and coordination with the manufacturer to retrieve critical data and complete repairs within three hours. The next day, the drivers were deeply moved by the team's dedication. They invited the staff to join them for lunch, but the Weichai team politely declined, emphasizing their commitment to serving without seeking recognition. In Changsha, the power grid was severely damaged, forcing many businesses to rely on backup generators. The Weichai center received numerous service requests, especially from key clients like Changsha Mobile. A generator failure in a mobile tower posed a serious risk, but the team arrived promptly, ensuring minimal disruption. Their prompt response not only protected the client’s operations but also strengthened their trust in Weichai products. As a result, Changsha Mobile and Tianxin District Government placed multiple orders for Weichai generators. Similarly, in Nanjing, the city faced one of the heaviest snowstorms in a century. Freeways and airports were closed for extended periods, but the Weichai Nanjing team remained steadfast. On January 23rd, a Jinlong-Xiamen bus broke down on the highway due to a rear-end collision on icy roads. With no access to spare parts, the team coordinated with Suzhou Golden Dragon Project, sending personnel via train and car to reach the scene. After a six-hour journey through snow, they successfully replaced the damaged part and restored the bus to operation. In Hefei, heavy snow continued to fall, and the situation remained critical. Despite the difficulty of getting around, Weichai service teams remained active. On January 28th, a Shaanxi Heavy Duty Truck failed on the HeNing Expressway. Although the highway entrance was closed, the team found a way to reach the site and replaced the starter motor in time. Director Song Jianyong of the Weichai Hefei Center shared how the team adapted to the situation. In one instance, a Yutong bus was stuck on the highway, and the driver, with some knowledge of vehicle mechanics, called for help. Through detailed guidance over the phone, the team helped the driver fix the issue, proving that Weichai’s support extended beyond just parts and tools. These stories are just a few examples of the countless efforts made by Weichai service teams across southern China. Their unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction reflects the core of Weichai’s business philosophy: “Customer Satisfaction Is Our Purpose.” Even in the face of extreme adversity, they stood firm, delivering real-time, on-the-ground support that truly matters.
