As seen around … Alsip (more)

I just got some amazing photos from my buddy Larry Shapiro of the MABAS 19 & 22 Haz Mat Unit 6937 based out of Alsip. These guys are always on standby for any hazardous materials situation, and it's impressive to see their level of preparedness. Check out this first shot of their main response vehicle. It’s a beast! You can really tell they mean business when it comes to handling dangerous materials. Larry captured every detail perfectly—right down to the reflective stickers that make it stand out even in low light. And here’s another angle of the team itself. I love how you can see everyone’s focus and dedication in their expressions. They’re not just a group of firefighters—they’re a unit ready to tackle anything thrown at them. That gear isn’t light, but they wear it like second skin. Over here, there’s a closer look at one of their support vehicles. The Saulsbury Fire Apparatus is a workhorse, designed with both function and safety in mind. Larry managed to snap an image that highlights all the intricate details of its design—it’s almost like a piece of art. Finally, take a peek at this emblem on a fire truck. It’s a Simon-Duplex model, and man, does it look sharp. The craftsmanship is evident in every single line. Larry’s photography skills really shine through here because he was able to capture such fine details, making the emblem pop against the background. These images remind me why I’m so passionate about firefighting culture. There’s something truly inspiring about seeing professionals who dedicate their lives to protecting others. Each of these photos tells a story about teamwork, resilience, and commitment. Thanks again to Larry for sharing these incredible shots with us!
