Knollwood engine on-scene

Jeff Rudolph has once again come through with some great on-scene photos for us, capturing Knollwood Engine 44 responding to a storm-related emergency involving downed power lines. These images give a real sense of the challenges firefighters face during severe weather events. The first photo shows Engine 44 waiting at a "wires-down" location, ready to assist while they wait for the power company to cut off the electricity. It's a common but critical situation where safety is the top priority. In the second image, Engine 44 is seen at the scene of an energized power line that had fallen on a wooden fence and shed located at 1012 Safford Avenue. Firefighters had to wait patiently until ComEd could safely shut off the power before they could proceed with any operations. The third photo provides a closer look at the engine itself — a 2007 E-One Typhoon equipped with a 2,000-GPM pump and a 1,000-gallon water tank. This kind of equipment is essential for quickly responding to emergencies, especially in situations where immediate action is needed. These photos not only showcase the professionalism of the Knollwood Fire Department but also highlight the importance of coordination with utility companies during such incidents. Jeff Rudolph's work continues to offer valuable insight into the daily realities of firefighting.
