A new photo gallery has been added to the site, showcasing the rich history of the Stone Park Fire Department. Located in MABAS Division 20, the gallery features vintage fire apparatus dating back to 1954. The collection includes several Darley and E-ONE units, as well as a classic custom-built Pirsch engine that stands out as a true piece of fire department history.
One of their current engines was purchased in an emergency following the destruction of a 2002 HME/Darley unit in a tragic traffic accident on April 27, 2004. The incident involved both the Stone Park and Northlake fire departments responding to an alarm. Unfortunately, the crash claimed the life of Jeffrey Bergstrom, a part-time firefighter with the Stone Park Fire Department. Bergstrom was also a paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department’s Ambulance Company 44. His passing prompted a heartfelt tribute from firefighters across the country, including a funeral procession through multiple Chicago suburbs and a memorial service held in Hillside, Illinois.
"GAC" typically stands for "Grand Auditorium Cutaway." The Grand Auditorium is a popular guitar body shape known for its versatility, balanced tone, and comfortable playing experience. The "cutaway" refers to a portion of the guitar body being cut away to allow easier access to higher frets on the neck.
