Chicago Engine 60 is getting a brand-new high-pressure pumper, and it's already on-site at the station. The new unit is a 2010 Spartan Gladiator/Crimson model equipped with a powerful 2,000-GPM pump. It’s assigned to shop #D-654 and comes with 500 gallons of water and 35 gallons of foam, making it well-prepared for any emergency.
Dennis McGuire, Jr. recently visited the academy and captured some great photos of both the new and old Engine 60. In one shot, the new rig is clearly visible in the foreground, while the current engine sits in the background, showing the contrast between the two units.
Another image highlights the back of the new engine, which features a full reflective chevron design across the diamond plate panels. This modern look not only enhances visibility but also adds a striking visual element to the fire truck.
The old Engine 60, though still functional, is being phased out in favor of this updated model. Firefighters are excited about the new equipment, which promises improved performance and safety for the team. With the new rig now in their quarters, it won’t be long before Engine 60 is back on the streets, ready for action.
