GTT, the LNG marine transport and storage film containment system design company, announced that its newly designed Mark V containment system has received DNV GL General Approval for Marine Applications (GASA).
According to GTT, in the first half of 2015, GTT signed two cooperation agreements with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries, involving the commercialization of Mark V maintenance systems; the approval of DNV GL marks an important step in the commercialization of the system.
After several years of research and development, the Mark V containment system has become an optimized version of the Mark III containment system and its equivalent Mark III Flex containment system. Through improvements to the Mark III containment system and the Mark III Flex containment system, the Mark V containment system consists of double insulated reinforced polyurethane foam. The Mark V containment system also includes an innovative nickel alloy corrugated secondary membrane and offers significant improvements in guaranteed daily gasification rates.
