This morning (February 7, 2020), I happened to be driving through Northbrook when I saw smoke rising over the trees. Curious, I followed the plume and ended up witnessing an intense house fire on Dorian Drive. It was early enough that traffic was light, so I was able to pull over and take some photos with my phone. The firefighters were working hard to contain the flames, and it was clear they had their hands full.
The first image shows several Northbrook firefighters at the scene, their equipment scattered around as they worked to douse the fire. The second photo is another angle of the same scene, capturing more of the intense activity. The third picture highlights one firefighter who seemed particularly focused on his task, his gear covered in soot from the effort. In the fourth shot, you can see a different perspective of the firefighters collaborating to bring the blaze under control.
Further down, there’s another image of the Northbrook firefighters still hard at work. The scale of the operation was impressive, with multiple hoses deployed and emergency vehicles parked strategically around the property. Another photo captures a Wheeling fire truck arriving to assist, adding even more resources to the effort. The final image gives a broader view of the scene, showing how widespread the damage had become.
I’ve always admired the dedication and professionalism of our local firefighters, and today was no exception. They were true heroes, working tirelessly in dangerous conditions to protect people's homes and belongings. I hope the family whose house caught fire finds support and resources to rebuild.
