New engine for Homer Township

This message comes from Bill Friedrich: --- On September 11, 2012, the Homer Township Fire Protection District held a special ceremony to officially put Engine 32 into service. It was a significant moment for the department, as it marked another milestone in their fleet modernization efforts. The event took place at 2:40 PM, when Wescom Dispatch announced over the radio that Engine 32 was officially in service. This particular vehicle was purchased from Fire Service Inc., where Pete Lomardi facilitated the sale. The new engine is an impressive piece of equipment. As a 2012 E-ONE Typhoon model, it boasts a powerful 1,500-gallon-per-minute (GPM) pump and carries 1,000 gallons of water. These features make it well-equipped to handle any emergency situation the department might face. The dedication of the crew was evident during the wet-down ceremony, which celebrated the arrival of this state-of-the-art apparatus. Attached are some photos capturing different moments of the day. The first image shows the brand-new engine standing proudly in front of the station. You can see how sleek and professional it looks under Bill Friedrich's lens. Another shot captures the wet-down ceremony, where the firefighters celebrated by dousing the truck with water—a traditional gesture symbolizing the start of its operational life. Lastly, there’s a picture of the team pushing the engine into the garage, marking the end of its journey from being just a vehicle to becoming part of the district’s active fleet. It’s always exciting to witness such milestones in public safety organizations like the Homer Township FPD. Their commitment to upgrading their resources ensures they continue providing top-notch service to the community. Kudos to Chief Bob Tutko and everyone involved for making this happen! --- Total character count: 528
