Springfield FD adding small squads

The Springfield Fire Department recently placed an order with Alexis for two compact rescue vehicles designed to work alongside their ambulances. These smaller units, known as squads, will be mounted on Ford F-550 chassis and are expected to help reduce the strain on the department's larger, more costly fire apparatus. According to the StateJournal Register, the initiative aims to optimize the department's resources while addressing the high volume of medical-related calls they receive. In a recent interview, Fire Chief Ken Fustin explained that these smaller vehicles are intended to extend the operational lifespan of the department's primary firefighting equipment. He noted that approximately 60% of the fire department's calls are related to medical emergencies. As part of last year's budget planning, the city council approved the acquisition of two such rescue vehicles. These were purchased from Landmark Ford and are currently being fitted with custom-built rescue bodies by Alexis Fire Equipment, who provided the lowest bid. The total expenditure for this project amounted to $200,822. Chief Fustin has also proposed allocating $125,000 in the upcoming budget to acquire another similar vehicle, aiming to have all three units fully operational by the end of December. With these new additions, the department anticipates handling around 4,000 to 5,000 fewer calls annually that would otherwise require the deployment of large fire trucks or engines. In 2011, the fire department responded to a total of 16,431 service calls, with roughly 58%, or 9,527, being medical-related incidents. Water Meter Housing

The housing is typically installed underground or at ground level, near the water supply line. It is important for the housing to be securely sealed to prevent any water leaks or unauthorized access.
Water meter housings come in various sizes and designs to accommodate different types and sizes of water meters. They are an essential component of water distribution systems as they help protect and maintain accurate measurement of water usage.
